Open Settings, Pre-orders in Addora ↗

A release method is the rule Addora uses to decide when a held item is ready to add to a shipment. You can run more than one method at the same time. Addora checks them in order and marks the item available as soon as one of them is satisfied; it remains held until the customer chooses shipping. Configure your release methods at Settings, Pre-orders (in Addora ↗).

Watch the workflow. Use the written instructions for your store’s configuration; all example data is illustrative.

Method 1: Release date

Addora marks an item available on or after a date you set on the product. This is the most common method for pre-orders with a known launch date. Release dates work on their own: set one on a product from the Settings, Pre-orders (in Addora ↗) and Addora marks the item ready when the date arrives, with nothing to enable here first.

The steps below are only needed if you keep release dates in your own product field (for example one filled in by your inventory system) and want Addora to read from it instead of its own.

  1. Go to Settings, Pre-orders (in Addora ↗).
  2. Under Release date, tick Enabled.
  3. In the field that appears, point Addora at the product field that holds the release date. You can choose it from the detected fields.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Set dates on individual products from the Settings, Pre-orders (in Addora ↗). See Set a release date for a product.

Method 2: Stock confirmation

Addora marks an item available when your warehouse or supplier sets a specific field on the product to confirm that stock has arrived. This is the method to use for supplier items where the timing depends on your supplier.

  1. Go to Settings, Pre-orders (in Addora ↗).
  2. Under Stock confirmation, tick Enabled.
  3. Point Addora at the product field your warehouse or supplier updates when stock is confirmed. This is different from the field used to classify the product.
  4. Click Save.

Method 3: Manual release

You mark items ready yourself from the Operations page. This method is always available regardless of your other settings. Use it for one-off situations, for items without a predictable schedule, or to override the automatic methods.

To mark an item ready manually, go to Operations, Orders (in Addora ↗), open the order, find the held item, and click Mark ready. You can also use bulk actions to update many items at once. See Mark held items ready and Bulk actions.

Date changes are reconciled asynchronously in the store time zone. Product-level changes preserve manually pinned order dates and supplier stock-confirmation rules. A native preorder promise may impose a later minimum date. Check the affected order after processing rather than assuming an immediate update or guaranteed email.
