Open Settings, Shipping Rules, Conditions in Addora ↗Shipping rules let you adjust the fee automatically based on what is in the shipment: its total weight, total value, or number of items. A rule can add an extra charge, give a discount (fixed or percentage), or make shipping free entirely. Rules apply at ship time when a customer creates their combined shipment.
What a rule measures
- Weight: the combined weight of all items in the shipment, in grams.
- Value (price): the combined order value of all selected held orders.
- Quantity: the total number of items across all selected held orders.
What a rule can do
- Add a fee: charges an extra amount on top of the base fee and country fee. Useful for heavy or bulky shipments.
- Apply a discount: reduces the total fee by a fixed amount or a percentage. Useful for rewarding large orders.
- Grant free shipping: sets the fee to zero, overriding everything else. Useful for orders above a value threshold.
Setting a range
Each rule has a minimum and maximum value. The rule applies only when the shipment's measured total falls within that range. You can leave the minimum blank to mean "zero and above" or leave the maximum blank to mean "no upper limit". For example, to add a fee for any shipment over 5 kg, set minimum to 5000 (grams), leave maximum blank, and choose Add a fee.
Choose where the rule applies
Use Applies to to run a rule for every destination or only for selected countries. This lets you use the same cart threshold differently by region, such as free shipping over $100 domestically while keeping your normal fee elsewhere.
Examples
- Free shipping on orders over $100: Type: value, minimum: 100, no maximum, action: free shipping.
- Extra $8 for heavy shipments over 10 kg: Type: weight, minimum: 10000, no maximum, action: add a fee, amount: $8.
- 10% discount for orders with 5 or more items: Type: quantity, minimum: 5, no maximum, action: discount, percentage: 10%.
- Free domestic shipping over $75: Type: value, minimum: 75, action: free shipping, applies only to your home country.
How multiple rules combine
All active rules that match a shipment apply at the same time. Extra fees add together. Discounts add together (percentage discounts are capped at 100% in total). If any rule grants free shipping, the entire fee becomes zero regardless of other rules.
Where to manage rules
Go to Settings, Conditions (in Addora ↗) to add, edit, enable, or disable rules. Changes take effect immediately for new combined shipments.
