A quick reference for the words you will see in Addora and in this help center.

Ship Later

The special shipping option Addora adds to your checkout. When a customer selects it, they pay for their items but shipping is deferred. The order is held until they are ready to ship. By default the option name includes (Addora) so the app can recognize it. You can customize the rest of the name, or switch to marker-free detection in Settings to use a name without the marker.

Hold / held order

An order whose items are reserved and waiting to ship. Addora places a hold on the order so it does not move to fulfillment. A held order stays held until the customer chooses to release it from the Order Summary page, or until you release it manually.

Order Summary page

Customers can manage held items inside Shopify customer accounts or on the configured storefront page. Account extensions need customer accounts; the storefront route also supports classic accounts on themes with app blocks. Test the selected surface while signed in with the purchase identity.

Shipping order

Identify the physical parcel record before packing. Legacy combined mode uses the combined order; split payment/shipment mode uses a separate shipment order and a payment copy. Never pack the payment copy. A documented warehouse workflow may instead ship released originals; use only that agreed procedure.

Combine

The act of grouping two or more held orders into one shipment so the customer pays shipping once. The customer does this from the Order Summary page by selecting multiple held orders before checking out.

Release

Moving a held order (or a held item) from its waiting state into the ship-now flow. A release can happen when the customer initiates a shipment from the Order Summary page, when a pre-order product becomes available on its release date, or when you release orders manually from the dashboard.

Pre-order

A product that is not yet available to ship. Addora can hold pre-order items separately until the product is ready, then mark them available for the customer based on a release date you set per product. See Pre-orders overview.

Lifecycle status

The overall status of a Ship Later order, shown as a label in your dashboard and on the customer's Order Summary page. The four statuses are:

  • Shipping Pending: the order is held and waiting for the customer to ship.
  • Dispatching: the hold has been released and the order is on its way to being fulfilled.
  • Billing Order: the order that collects the shipping fee from the customer.
  • Shipped: all items have been fulfilled and the tracking has been recorded.

Item status (held / ready / shipped)

The per-item view of where a line item stands. Held means it is waiting on something (a release date, a supplier, or your approval). Ready means it is available for the customer to include in a shipment. Shipped means it has been fulfilled and sent.

Bucket

The category Addora uses to group items by why they are being held. The three categories are in stock (ready to go, just waiting for the customer to ship), pre-order (waiting on a product release date), and supplier (waiting on a supplier or made-to-order production). Addora assigns the category based on product tags or a product field you configure.
