Build a Box for Collectors

Build a box on Shopify the way collectors actually buy

Collectors rarely finish a box in one visit. They buy a weekly release, return for a variant or restock, then add another item days later. Addora lets each purchase remain a real Shopify order while the customer holds and ships selected orders together later.

Bundle builder vs. Addora build-a-box

Bundle builder

  • Assembles one order from products inside a single cart, before payment
  • Lives entirely in the storefront and checkout, so the work ends at the cart
  • Built for one shopping session: pick the items, buy the bundle, done

Addora build-a-box

  • Lets customers place separate real Shopify orders over time and combine orders before shipping, after each checkout
  • Holds paid orders with Shopify fulfillment holds and a self-serve Order Summary page that lives after the cart
  • Built for repeat buying across weeks: secure each item now, ship the box once when the customer is ready

Why collectors search for this

A comic shopper may buy a new issue on Wednesday, return for a variant on Friday, and fill a gap the following week. Vinyl and trading-card buyers follow the same pattern across releases, restocks, and preorders. A single-session bundle builder cannot represent purchases that happen across several visits.

Standard checkout asks the customer to decide about shipping every time they buy. A held-order workflow separates those decisions: secure the item now, then choose what ships once the box is ready.

  • Weekly drops, restocks, and overlapping preorders that arrive on a rhythm, not in one cart
  • Variant and connecting-cover culture that makes each release a series of separate buys
  • Repeat purchases where a second shipping fee on a small order feels like a tax on buying exactly what they came for
  • A wish for a "build a box after checkout" flow rather than filler items added just to justify shipping

Build a box after checkout, not before

A bundle builder assembles one order from products chosen in a single session. Addora starts after checkout. Customers place normal Shopify orders whenever they find something they want, choose Ship Later, and keep each purchase paid and recorded as its own order.

Addora then holds those orders and gives the customer one place to select what ships. It supports the collector habit of accumulating purchases over time without turning the experience into a manual support process.

How the after-checkout box works

The flow follows how collectors already shop. Customers buy as they go, each order is held instead of shipped, and a self-serve Order Summary page lets them combine held orders into one shipping checkout when the box feels complete. Orders are classified as in-stock, preorder, or supplier so the held box reflects what is actually shippable, and your team keeps full visibility through Shopify's native holds and tags.

  • Customer selects Ship Later at checkout, so shipping is deferred and the order is still paid in full
  • The paid order is held using Shopify fulfillment holds, with no separate dashboard for your team to learn
  • Items are classified in-stock, preorder, or supplier so the held box reflects real availability
  • On the self-serve Order Summary page, the customer picks which held orders to combine and starts one shipping checkout
  • You pack and ship one box instead of fielding manual merge-order requests

Frequently asked questions

Is Addora a bundle builder?

No. A bundle builder assembles one order from products in a single cart before the customer pays. Addora works after the cart: customers place separate real Shopify orders over time, those orders are held with Shopify fulfillment holds, and they combine orders before shipping into one box from the self-serve Order Summary page. Bundle builders optimize the cart; Addora optimizes everything after the cart.

Is this like Pile of Loot for Shopify?

It supports the same general behavior: customers accumulate purchases and ship them together later. In Addora, each purchase remains a completed Shopify order and eligible orders are held with Shopify fulfillment holds until the customer starts a combined shipment.

Do customers build the box, or do I?

Customers build it themselves. After they choose Ship Later at checkout, their held orders appear on a self-serve Order Summary page where they pick which orders to combine and trigger one shipping checkout. That removes the manual combine-order emails for your team. You keep control through Shopify-native holds, tags, and the in-stock, preorder, and supplier classification on each item.

Is shipping free with Ship Later?

No. Ship Later defers shipping, it does not waive it. The customer secures each item now and pays for shipping once, in a single shipping checkout, when they combine their held orders into one box. The goal is to remove the friction of paying shipping repeatedly on small, fragmented orders, not to give away delivery.
